Jim Glover Chevrolet Partners with Folds of Honor Foundation
to Provide Educational Support for Military Families
Portion of vehicle sales in May benefits foundation
Tulsa-based Jim Glover Chevrolet is proud to partner with the Folds of Honor Foundation to aid in its mission of providing educational scholarships to the dependents of soldiers killed or disabled while serving our country.
“We’re proud to have the support of local organizations and are thrilled to have Jim Glover Chevrolet on board,” said Dan Rooney, Folds of Honor founder. “Our ability to support our nation’s heroes would not be possible without the support of our partners, and we’re thankful that Jim Glover Chevrolet is joining us as a wingman as we work to support the families of our heroes.”
For each vehicle sold in the month of May, Jim Glover Chevrolet will donate a portion of the sale to Folds of Honor. They will also sell a limited number of Patriot Edition vehicles, each one of which comes with a Folds of Honor shadow box.
“We’re honored to partner with Folds of Honor in this cause and hope to bring more community awareness as to what this organization truly represents,” said Jim Glover, owner of Jim Glover Chevrolet. “We’re excited to shine a spotlight on this local organization and support our nation’s military and their families.”
Since its inception in 2007, Owasso-based Folds of Honor has awarded more than 3,800 immediate and future-use educational scholarships. As of January 2012, more than one million dependents have been affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of these, 87 percent do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance.
About the Folds of Honor Foundation:
Major Rooney, a former F-16 military pilot with the Oklahoma Air National Guard, founded the Folds of Honor Foundation in 2007 following his second of three tours of duty in Iraq. While a passenger on a commercial flight, Major Rooney witnessed an event that would profoundly change his life. As the plane landed, the pilot announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, we have an American hero on board – Corporal Brock Bucklin – and his twin brother, Corporal Brad Bucklin, is accompanying him home from Iraq. As a sign of respect, please remain seated while Corporal Bucklin’s family receives him in his final homecoming.” Major Rooney watched through the window of the plane as the flag-draped casket was lowered. He saw a family waiting for Brock, and a little four-year old boy waiting for his father. This tragic homecoming inspired Major Rooney to create the Folds of Honor Foundation. That four-year old boy, Jacob Green, is the first recipient of a Folds of Honor scholarship. For more information on Folds of Honor, visit
