Jim Glover Chevrolet Partners with Folds of Honor Foundation
to Provide Educational Support for Military Families
Portion of vehicle sales in May benefits foundation
Tulsa-based Jim Glover Chevrolet is proud to partner with the Folds of Honor Foundation to aid in its mission of providing educational scholarships to the dependents of soldiers killed or disabled while serving our country.
“We’re proud to have the support of local organizations and are thrilled to have Jim Glover Chevrolet on board,” said Dan Rooney, Folds of Honor founder. “Our ability to support our nation’s heroes would not be possible without the support of our partners, and we’re thankful that Jim Glover Chevrolet is joining us as a wingman as we work to support the families of our heroes.”
For each vehicle sold in the month of May, Jim Glover Chevrolet will donate a portion of the sale to Folds of Honor. They will also sell a limited number of Patriot Edition vehicles, each one of which comes with a Folds of Honor shadow box.
“We’re honored to partner with Folds of Honor in this cause and hope to bring more community awareness as to what this organization truly represents,” said Jim Glover, owner of Jim Glover Chevrolet. “We’re excited to shine a spotlight on this local organization and support our nation’s military and their families.”
Since its inception in 2007, Owasso-based Folds of Honor has awarded more than 3,800 immediate and future-use educational scholarships. As of January 2012, more than one million dependents have been affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of these, 87 percent do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance.
About the Folds of Honor Foundation:
Major Rooney, a former F-16 military pilot with the Oklahoma Air National Guard, founded the Folds of Honor Foundation in 2007 following his second of three tours of duty in Iraq. While a passenger on a commercial flight, Major Rooney witnessed an event that would profoundly change his life. As the plane landed, the pilot announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, we have an American hero on board – Corporal Brock Bucklin – and his twin brother, Corporal Brad Bucklin, is accompanying him home from Iraq. As a sign of respect, please remain seated while Corporal Bucklin’s family receives him in his final homecoming.” Major Rooney watched through the window of the plane as the flag-draped casket was lowered. He saw a family waiting for Brock, and a little four-year old boy waiting for his father. This tragic homecoming inspired Major Rooney to create the Folds of Honor Foundation. That four-year old boy, Jacob Green, is the first recipient of a Folds of Honor scholarship. For more information on Folds of Honor, visit www.foldsofhonor.org.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the National Insurance Board (NIB), more than one out of every 3 vehicle accidents involve some sort of rear-end collision. With distracted driving becoming more prevalent, this trend is expected to increase. Rear impact collisions result in more injuries and property damage than any other type of automobile accident. A NHTSA study proved that 90% of rear-end collisions are avoidable if the trailing driver has one more second of warning. So what is PULSE Safer Braking Technology?
PULSE is a cutting edge occupant and vehicle safety product. It is a revolutionary, new, patent pending Electronic Circuitry Unit/Microprocessor (“ECU”) manufactured in the U. S. and designed to meet all federal, state and local regulations. When the brake pedal is pressed, PULSE causes the 3rd brake light (a.k.a. center high mount stop lamp or CHMSL) to rapidly pulse 4 times. This creates an attention getting alert for the driver behind you, warning them that you’re slowed down or stopping. So why should you have the PULSE Safer Braking Technology installed on your vehicle today?
The PULSE Safer Braking Technology improves the reaction time of the trailing driver by approximately 50%. NHTSA found that at a speed of 50 mph the increased reaction time reduced the stopping distance by approximately 14.5 ft and at 60 mph, 20 ft. So the next time you’re at a stop light or stop sign, look in the rear view mirror and ask yourself if the driver behind is:

You and your family are the most important people on the road which is a philosophy shared by Jim Glover Chevrolet. We invite you to stop by Jim Glover Chevrolet – Lawton at 82nd and Cache Rd and let us demonstrate this new technology. Remember one common theme after a rear-end collision is “It wasn’t my fault; the guy behind me wasn’t paying attention; what could I have done differently?” You can install the PULSE Safer Braking Technology and increase the chance that the “other guy” will notice you stopping or slowing.
